Piers Morgan Signs Off Show With Desperate Gun Control Plea — Watch

Piers Morgan sat behind the desk for ‘Piers Morgan Live’ one last time on March 28, to say goodbye and make an emotional plea for better gun control here in the United States. Click to watch and see just how Piers said his goodbyes.

Piers Morgan, 49, had been at the helm of the live CNN show since taking it over from Larry King over three years ago. Piers said his goodbyes on the final episode, and managed to add in a long monologue about better gun control laws here in the United States before he put down the mic for good. He cited several huge cases here in the states in which massive casualties occurred at the hands of gun wheedling killers — cases he says could have been avoided.

After spending most of his final show on missing Malaysian Airlines flight 370, the always controversial British journalist took a few minutes to talk about the overwhelming amount of gun violence here in the states.

Piers had this to say about gun control, “I assumed that after 70 people were shot in a movie theater, and then, just a few months later, 20 first-graders were murdered with an assault rifle in an elementary school, the absurd gun laws in this country would change. But nothing has happened.”

“The gun lobby in America, led by the NRA, has bullied this nation’s politicians into cowardly, supine silence. Even when 20 young children are blown away in their classrooms. This is a shameful situation that has made me very angry. So angry, in fact, that some people have criticized me for being too loud, opinionated, even rude when I have debated the issue of guns. But I make no apologies for that,” Piers added.

His three years in the old Larry King Live time slot were marked by low ratings and his involvement in the British phone hacking scandal. Those two things didn’t help his case any when producers ultimately decided to axe the show.

The 9 p.m. time slot is scheduled to be filled by various CNN anchors such as Jake Tapper and Don Lemon until a replacement is named.

No fewer than 20 Boko Haram detainees have been shot dead in a shoutout that ensued this morning at the Department of State Security Service (DSS) in the Asokoro a district of Abuja.
Vanguard learnt that the shoutout erupted when some of the suspected terrorists attempted to free their members and leave the detention facility, which is by the precincts of the Presidential Villa.

Trouble started around 6am during the normal handing over and taking over of duties by DSS detainees’ handlers.

A competent source said that as soon as one handlers opened the gate leading to the cell where the detainees were being kept, ten suspected terrorists rushed out, snatched the handler’s rifle and used it to shoot him.

Seeing the attack, some DSS handlers are reported to have retreated so as not to be killed by the rampaging suspected terrorists.

The source said after shooting the first handler, the ten suspected terrorists began to escape into different locations within the massive security compound.
Alarmed by the effrontery of the suspected terrorists, the DSS quickly deployed its men to quell the uprising, resulting in heavy shooting that claimed the lives of some of the suspects.

Many DSS operatives and Boko Haram detainees were also injured in the ensuing stampede.
The shot DSS operative, whose name could not be immediately ascertained, was immediately rushed to an undisclosed hospital. A source said the shot operative was in a fatal state but had not died.

It was learnt that the DSS, which is highly embarrassed by the incident, had begun investigation into why the detainees handler decided to go and open the cell gate alone without being accompanied by others, as is the standard practice.

“The whole episode occurred around 6:30 am and 7am on Sunday during the normal handing over and takeover of detainees.

“The standard rule is that you cannot go alone to open the gate leading to the detainees’ cell but as soon as the man opened the gate, he was attacked and he tried to run away and was shot.

“The shot operative has been taken to hospital,” the source said.
The uprising led to the deployment of soldiers to the DSS headquarters and around the Presidential Villa.

Commuters and vehicles passing through the Aso a Drive, were searched by armed soldiers and DSS operatives.

Marylyn Ogar, the Spokeswoman for the DSS, confirmed the attempted jailbreak, which she said had been stalled by security agents.

She said, “What happened was that the suspects’ handlers went to feed the detainees here but suddenly they attacked him with their handcuffs, disarmed him and started shooting.

“The military was quickly called in before they could do any harm and that is responsible for the shootings you heard.

“It was an attempted jailbreak but it has been brought under control.”

The war against Cyber crime otherwise known as yahoo yahoo, by security agents in Nigeria may take a long time to be won, if the confession of a 25-year-old alleged internet fraudster is anything to go by.

The suspect who simply gave his name as Chidi, disclosed that what people used to know as yahoo yahoo, a term used to defraud unsuspecting and gullible persons, especially foreigners, through the internet, has gone beyond mere conversation and emotional chat.

He disclosed that yahoo plus is the trend in cybercrime world today, as operators have resorted to using fetish means to hypnotize their victims in order to get what they want from them.

In this interview with Crime Guard, Chidi said he ventured into cyber crime eight years ago, after several attempts to gain admission into the university failed.

Rather than venting his frustration on the appropriate channel, he chose rather, to unleash it on undeserving individuals,by defrauding them of their hard earned money.

Unfortunately, five years down the line, he said he could only get himself a Nigerian used vehicle.

As you read this piece, Chidi said he had turned a new leaf ,begging those he had defrauded to forgive him.

His sudden change of mind according to him, followed a startling discovery that human parts were being used to prepare concoction that would hypnotise victims.

Hear him: “ You may not believe me but it is true. Those who are into yahoo plus use charm to hypnotize their victims. This is because the ordinary yahoo no longer yield the desired result. Our targets are getting wiser and no longer fall prey .

“When I noticed that I was not making any headway in yahoo business, I decided to inquire from some of my friends who were in same business but were living better off.

To my surprise, I was made to understand that the in-thing was yahoo plus. I decided to embark on a journey to Benin Republic in the company of Chuks, Odinakachukwu and Chionye. There,we met a herbalist who told us to buy three live cocks and other items which he used to prepare some concoction for us. After that, we were asked to stand in front of the shrine, while the herbalist chanted incantations that would enhance our success in yahoo plus.

“As we left for Nigeria, we were given some concoction which the herbalist said were prepared with human parts. We were asked to put the concoction in our mouths whenever we wanted to type or discuss with our victims.

But when I got home, I became restive. I remembered my mum’s admonition never to go into anything fetish but to serve the almighty God. I kept the concoction away and watched as events unfolded.

Three months later, one of us Chuks, made 3000 dollars .But Odinakachuckwu lost his younger brother who went to use his laptop. The instruction of the herbalist was that no one except him, should use his laptop. Just as we were smarting from that, Chionye lost his girlfriend.

“I decided to quit at that point because I did not want anyone to die on my account. I am therefore appealing to those I have defrauded through yahoo yahoo to forgive me”, he stated.

Currently, a team of Nigerian anti-cyber crime app developers are brainstorming on the possibility developing an online tool for easy detection of online scam by vulnerable members of the public. Africa Thisday is in touch with these anti-cyber crime team.

1: The plane could be in Taliban-controlled regions

Investigators looked at a possibility of the plane being flown to Taliban-controlled bases.

Malaysian authorities sought diplomatic permission to scrutinize Taliban-controlled bases on the borders of Afghanistan and North West Pakistan, the Independent reports.

According to the report, experts said that the plane’s transponders were deliberately disabled by someone of expertise on board, as the plane continued to give out ‘pings’ or satellite signals despite getting off radar.

Meanwhile, the satellite data pointed that the plane was on one of two possible arcs, one stretching north from Thailand to Kazakhstan and crossing more than 10 countries, and one to the south over Indonesia and out across the southern Indian Ocean.

Large areas of the southern half of Afghanistan are ruled by the Afghan Taliban, while some areas of north-west Pakistan, adjacent to or near to the Afghan border, are controlled by the Pakistani Taliban, the report said.

Malaysian officials said that the search area has been significantly expanded and changed, as they were now looking at large tracts of land, crossing 11 countries as well as deep and remote oceans and have also requested help from a dozen Asian countries and asked them to provide radar data.

Pakistani civil aviation officials said they had checked their radar recordings and found no sign of the missing jet.

2. Chinese satellites spotted the wreckage

Another “red herring” for the investigators was the satellite imagery released by China, which showed “three suspected floating objects” of varying sizes in a 20-kilometre radius, the largest about 24-by-22 metres off the southern tip of Vietnam.

The images, taken a day after the MH370 went off radar by China’s State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence, gave coordinates of 105.63 east longitude, 6.7 north latitude, which would put it in waters northeast of where the aircraft took off in Kuala Lumpur, south of Vietnam and close to where the plane lost contact with air traffic control.

Malaysian authorities have, however, rejected the claim. “There is nothing. We went there, there is nothing,” Malaysia’s civil aviation chief Azharuddin Abdul Rahman told reporters in Kuala Lumpur.

3. ‘I saw the plane coming down’

New Zealander Mike McKay, who works on the oil rig Songa Mercur off Vung Tau on the south east coast of Vietnam, claimed he saw the ill-fated flight on fire.

In fact, McKay was so sure about what he saw that he mailed his employers, urging them to pass the information onto authorities.

In his email to his employers on March 12, he claims he saw flames in the sky which quickly extinguished.

“From when I first saw the burning (plane) until the flames went out (still at high altitude) was 10-15 seconds. There was no lateral movement, so it was either coming toward our location, stationary, or going away from our location,” he wrote.

“The general position of the observation was perpendicular/south west of the normal flight paths. The surface location of the observation is Lat 08 22’ 30.20” N Lat 108 42.22.26” E.”

Vietnamese officials sent a plane to the area to investigate the man’s claims, but the search was fruitless.

4. Five hours of radio silence

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that US investigators suspect a missing Malaysian jetliner flew on for four hours once it lost contact with air traffic controllers.

The report said, “Aviation investigators and national security officials believe the plane flew for a total of five hours based on data automatically downloaded and sent to the ground from the Boeing Co. BA -0.99% 777’s engines as part of a routine maintenance and monitoring programme.”

“That raises a host of new questions and possibilities about what happened aboard the wide body jet carrying 239 people, which vanished from civilian air-traffic control radar over the weekend, about one hour into a flight to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur.”

The report adds that while Malaysian authorities have refused to comment on the new data, that “the huge uncertainty about where the plane was headed, and why it apparently continued flying so long without working transponders, has raised theories among investigators that the aircraft may have been commandeered for a reason that appears unclear to US authorities”

5. Terrorists crashed it

The theory involving terrorists gained momentum after two passengers on board MH370 were found to be travelling on stolen passports.

However, Malaysian police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said investigators had determined that one was a 19-year-old Iranian, Pouria Nourmohammadi Mehrdad who was planning to migrate to Germany.

Interpol identified the second man as a 29-year-old Iranian and released an image of the two boarding a plane at the same time. Interpol Secretary General Ronald K Noble said the two men travelled to Malaysia on their Iranian passports, then apparently switched to their stolen Austrian and Italian documents.

But terror angle has still not been ruled out.

Pilot David Learmount, who is operations and safety editor of Flight Global magazine, said: “Something happened and the pilots did not tell anyone. Why? It’s a good question. It’s extraordinary the pilots failed to call because they had plenty of time to. Unless there was a bomb on board but there has been no evidence of that.”

Other groups, however, have claimed responsibility over the last few days, including an unknown Chinese group. An email was sent to various journalists in China, saying: “You kill one of our clan, we will kill 100 of you as payback.”

But officials in Malaysia have said they believe the group’s claim could be a hoax.

6. Passengers’ phones are still ringing

Panic alarms went off when distraught family members heard a dial tone while trying to call their relatives onboard MH370.

Numerous media reports cited instances when phones taken on board the flight were still ringing four days after the plane’s disappearance.

Reports suggest as many as 19 families managed to call phones of their missing loved ones, while the airline itself has got through to some of the missing crew’s handsets.

And even more bizarrely, some social media sites have shown missing passengers as still being ‘online’

But experts are blaming phone networks and carriers for the panic.

“That does not mean the phone you are calling is ringing yet,” wireless analyst Jeff Kagan told NBC News, adding, “”The network is searching for the phone. First based on where it last was, then it expands. Then if the network can’t find the phone, the call terminates.”

Apparently even if the phone in question is in airplane mode — or is off or terminally broken — it may still ring on the caller’s end, despite there technically being no chance of it being connected.

7. The invisible aircraft

Conspiracy theorists say terrorists could have cut the transponders, dropped below the radar and flown the plane to an isolated airport somewhere in Vietnam — left over from the Vietnam War.

The plane had at least seven hours worth of fuel on board and this theory is supported by the lack of wreckage.

The theory goes further with the possibility the plane could have been ‘cloaked’, technology that uses a hexagonal array of glasslike panels to bend light around an object.

There are suggestions this theory could be linked to the 20 passengers on board who worked for Texas company Freescale.

Citizen news site, said: “It is conceivable that the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 plane is “cloaked,” hiding with hi-tech electronic warfare weaponry that exists and is used. In fact, this type of technology is precisely the expertise of Freescale, which has 20 employees on board the missing flight”.

However, Thomas Way, associate professor of computing science at Villanova University, told “Invisible to what? We already have stealth aircraft that are invisible to radar (usually), but there is absolutely no way given our current understanding of physics that something could be made invisible to the naked eye… If that’s what they are claiming, it’s a hoax.”

It has become clear to the world that there is something the government of Malaysia is not telling the world. Conspiracy theorists working with Africa Thisday are already brainstorming on the possible background of Flight MH370; the identity and personality of every member of the crew of MH370; their call logs and possible connection to any terrorist group; the GPS location of the phone numbers of the passengers of MH370.

Does it really??? Or is this the grand deception at work in the end time church. For in our great zeal to reach the lost of our generation we have created formulas and programmes more attractive than the world…though this way seems right to us I fear the end thereof could be destruction. Will we end up where we first intended to go if the route is irrelevant as long as we get there… truly this is a concern of mine…I myself have often said indeed be all things to all man but- to what extent…without short-changing people of the true power of the gospel of Jesus Christ, of salvation by grace, healing and deliverance…..that should be where we should draw the line. We shouldn’t have to dress up the word of God and make it sensual to appeal to the emotions and flesh as long as we win people to Christ, that is how satan operates. This decision should still be spiritual and not mind manipulated…lest we ourselves end up giving people a foreign doctrine and preach a different Jesus to the one the apostles preached to us…
In a quest to keep up with the world to reach the lost in it we should guard against being conformed into it….there are fads in the world-there are fads in the church…there is slang in the world you supposedly cannot be comprehended without…there are buzz words in the church which confirm the level of your spirituality and very few of them come directly from the bible and add in puffing ourselves up…it’s like we are creating a Christian substitute for whatever the world has in store and ‘resultantly’ we mirror the world when it should mirror the church. May it not be said of church ‘ Don’t worry you won’t miss the world much if you go to church it’s just like the world in the guise of holiness’…it brings into remembrance- having the form of godliness but lacking the power thereof.

So we must question when preaching, and teachings occur is it for the feeding of the sheep or the amusing of goats—sheep eat specifics while goats will engulf anything that is vegetation as long as they fill their belly. The more severe question I asked myself is how was I saved? Was it the word that enticed me or the programme and the tea and scones promised afterwards? And what is keeping me in the Lord? If no more books or fads were created would the word be sufficient to sustain my ravenous appetite, if not to what had I acquired taste? To the word of God in its authentic form or whatever the buzz was in Christian circles? Lord forbid if it were the latter.

I heard rumour they want to create angel boards to substitute ouiji boards…they will serve as the Christian version of communicating with the ‘good’ spirits.
…Why? have Christians started loosing the ability to hear from God? We come to him through Christ, maybe all these substitutes eventually make us loose sight of Christ-all these substitutes make us gain the world and loose Jesus…

There’s always a new programme that you simply must do…the conference you just have to attend lest you miss the anointing- (I thought God was omnipresent he anoints whomever he chooses he would send a Samuel your way like he did David is he limited in his reach that you now have to chase the second hand anointing on man?)…the book you just absolutely have to read …the sequel that is more than equal…then when all its said and done we are like its all about u Lord! Would the words filthy rags apply? May he who searches hearts not find us wanting… is it really about him? or do we get to a place where we too make ‘gurus’ of men of God waiting for the next book they release the next cd programme to take us to the next level, is it in God that we graduate or our deception are we growing from glory to glory or breaking chakra to chakra in our man made exploits and programmes?…

Like fashion the first programme is dropped when the next sequel which is more than equal comes out. Are we making shamans out of the prophets that we would not even test the spirit behind their words in these ages because what is said is pleasing to our ears…Does Jesus not ask us to test the spirits? When we see signs and wonders does that excite us more than the word of God? Oh wicked generation that seeks after a sign: may that not apply to us in Jesus name. Undeniably God is a wonder-working God but salvation is about more than that, it is about taking ones cross and following Jesus first and foremost, seeking his kingdom first, being obsessed with making heaven than playing church.
How many man made sequels will it take? Is it a trilogy? A never-ending story or plain old me-o logy which cries to be fed for eternity??
Does the unedited, word of God excite us as much or do the literature, programmes ‘blah blah’ that ‘accompany’ the word become the main event…have we made a main course of a side dish and chosen dessert over dinner its sweeter but is it healthier….only a child would make this choice.
The world is seasoned so we spice up the word to the acquired taste of the Lost with our programmes may they not come for the spice and miss the meal God has laid before them and ourselves in the word, may searching unedited scripture be the main event at every gathering.
Let’s have watches with God like Jesus did, real personal relationship with him not swayed by every wind of doctrine, having his word etched on our hearts not because it is popular but because we daily die to self as instructed…
To etch and imprint the word you have got to search it for yourself that goes beyond receiving from the pulpit which is inactive to researching which involves study of the word of God with a fine comb of zeal for his truth.
May God lead us to all understanding in Jesus name for our folly is forever before us his folly is wiser than the wisdom of man.

God bless all who read this in Jesus name
Jesus is Lord forever
