In 2012, while Nigerians were on the street protesting over fuel subsidy removal, a British based 42 year old man was been arraigned in UK over the shipping of 80,000 rifles and pistols and 32 million rounds of ammunition to Nigeria. The shipment included 40,000 AK47 assault rifles, 30,000 rifles and 10,000 9mm pistols.

According to a report by the BBC, the man whose name was given as Gary Hyde, shipped these huge arm cache without receiving permission from the relevant government department in the UK.

Gary Hyde was not alone in this deal. It was carried out with his business partner Karl Kleber, a German national based in Germany, the court was told.

The pair acted as middle men between two Polish companies acting for the Nigerian buyers and Chinese companies, the court heard, according to the BBC report. Both men received commission payments for the deals totaling around $1.3m (£840,000) or N351 million. The story apparently left several questions unanswered. Who were the Nigerian buyers? Were these guns really delivered to Nigeria eventually?

It is also interesting that since this story broke out in the British media, the Nigerian government has not come out with any specific statement on it. Were these weapons imported by the Nigerian government? If they were not imported by the Nigerian government, have they made any efforts to trace the importers of these large numbers of weapons into the country? Thirty two million rounds of ammunition are enough to kill thirty two million Nigerians, assuming each bullet will kill a Nigerian? This may be an exaggeration, but there is no doubt that if there is this amount of guns and ammunition out there outside the control of the government, then every Nigerian has a serious course to be worried at this time.

The reputation of Gary Hyde, the man at the centre of the storm shows that Nigerians have to be concerned that he has set his eyes on supplying arms to the country. A report in February 2011, in The Observer in UK shows that Hyde is also facing charges in the US for smuggling arms into the country. The Observer describes him as “Britain’s very own lord of war; an international arms dealer, whose chief currency is the AK-47 assault rifle”

The Observer reports that US officials arrested Hyde in connection with the alleged illegal import into the US of almost 6,000 Chinese-produced AK-47 magazines, each capable of holding up to 75 rounds of ammunition.

The Observer also quotes a Wikileaks release of confidential US embassy cables which shows that in 2008 York Guns, where Gary Hyde is a director, tried to ship 130,000 of the assault rifles to Libya. The WikiLeaks revelation shows that Gary Hyde through his company acted as an intermediary between an unidentified Ukrainian arms manufacturer and Libyan officials. “The size of the deal raised eyebrows in diplomatic circles, as Libya has only 70,000 ground-force troops and these would be unlikely to use a weapon as dated as the AK-47. The cable noted that the export licence was rejected because the “UK is concerned that the intention may be to re-export the weapons, particularly to armed rebel factions backed by Khartoum and/or Ndjamena in the Chad/Sudan conflict”.

What emerges from these reports is that the two men now being named in connection with supply of arms to Nigeria should raise serious concerns in Nigeria. Have they supplied some other arms into the country, that the authorities are not aware?

The concern becomes even more real considering the fact that at the same time Gary Hyde was beEN arraigned in UK, the Ghanaian authorities intercepted a truck loaded with arms and ammunitions heading to Nigeria. The ammunitions included pump action rifles and live rounds. These arrests are coming at time the Boko Haram insurgence is getting worse in Northern Nigeria as bombs explode on almost on daily basis and masked men go on killing spree with sophisticated weapons.
The activities of Boko Haram, the penetration of eastern Nigeria by  Boko Haram insurgents is no doubt raising serious concerns and fears of retaliation from other ethnic groups. Could this inflow of arms be linked to ethnic groups arming themselves? Are they arming themselves to defend themselves or to go on the offensive?
Is this how the west planned to waste Nigeria and Africa by extension?

BOKO HARAM IN ABIA STATE: 87 of the people arrested in Abia State have been confirmed as terrorists.

ImageAbout 87 of the over 486 travellers arrested in Abia State have been identified as members of the insurgent Boko Haram group, a security source told PREMIUM TIMES.

The midnight travelers were arrested on Monday in Aba, along Enugu – Port Harcourt Expressway, while traveling from Northern Nigeria to Port Harcourt in several buses.

The Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukolade, had, in a statement on Tuesday, said a wanted Boko Haram suspect was identified during the screening of those arrested. He, however, did not name the suspect.

Mr. Olukolade also stated that those identified as possible security risks or illegal immigrants would be separated from their colleagues for further action.

A top security source, however, told PREMIUM TIMES, Thursday, that apart from the one earlier identified, 86 others have been identified as suspected terrorists.

“But to be double sure, we have called for additional screening,” he said.

He confirmed that the suspects were all headed to Port Harcourt when they were arrested. He said that most of them, however, had never been to Port Harcourt before now and some did not even have up to N1,000 on them.

He stated that although no weapons were discovered on them, a certain kind of body marks associated with terrorists was noted on them.

He disclosed that the suspects were being held at 144 Battalion, close to Umuahia in Abia State although the confirmed kingpin has been moved to a different location.

He, however, refused to disclose the name of the confirmed kingpin, saying it could jeopardise investigations, as some persons linked to him might try to escape from the country if his name was mentioned.

“The kingpin is making very useful statements. Initially, he was trying to deceive the interrogators until he was confronted with fresh info,” the source said.

The arrest of the travelers was the first major one of suspected Boko Haram insurgents by security officials in eastern part of Nigeria.

Boko Haram has killed thousands of people since its insurgency began in 2009 and its activities had been limited to Northern Nigeria leading to the declaration of a State of Emergency in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa. The sect, however, recently threatened to attack other parts of the country.

A social media commentator had warned that: “The next bomb in Nigeria might land in the eastern part of the country.”

The people of Eastern Nigeria are advised to report every strange movements in their vicinity by any strange individual. “Stay alert, it is important you know that your land has invaded by blood thirsty killers and so you must at all times watch out for strangers. Don’t give them the chance to hit on us.” His Royal Highness, Eze Nwosu advised his community against the invasion of eastern Nigeria by members of Boko Haram.

HOW WOMEN DISARMED BOKO HARAM INSURGENTS IN BORNO.

ImageResidents of Attagara and Kawuri villages in Gwoza and Bama local government areas of Borno State, respectively, repelled attacks on their community by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

A resident said the attackers invaded the village yesterday on motorcycles but met some women, adding “they wanted to hit the women with sticks but when they raised the sticks, their hands refused to descend.
“Three of the insurgents fled, but seven were not lucky as the women alerted the people,” and the vigilante group in the community rushed to the scene, disarmed the seven insurgents, who were later lynched.

Attagara, a border community with Cameroon is about 10 kilometres South-East of Pulka District in Gwoza Local Government Area of the state and about 130 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital.

Also, scores of gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram were killed yesterday through the combined efforts of members of the vigilante youths, otherwise known as Civilian JTF, and the military in Kawuri village, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

Twenty years old Mallam Mamman Yakubu, a vigilante youth that participated in repelling the insurgents, said: “We were able to kill many of the terrorists who invaded our community yesterday night.”
On whether arrests were made, Yakubu said they were not interested in any arrests because Boko Haram members hardly reveal any secret when arrested.

A top security source, who confirmed the incident, told Vanguard that three dead bodies of the terrorists were recovered yesterday morning in Kawuri, adding that more of the terrorists were killed in a nearby bush of Kawuri when they attempted to flee to the Sambisa Forest.

He said the Pickup van was loaded with gas cylinder, but during the police search, nothing was found in the van.

JUST IN: MRS. OBY EZEKWESIRI PAID BY POLITICIANS TO HIJACK #BRING BACK OUR GIRLS PROTESTS.

Posted on

ImageThe abduction of over 200 female students in Nigeria sparked off series of local and international protests with the harsh tag #Bring Back Our Girls.
Whereas the international protests are directed mainly to the Islamic terror group, Boko Haram and to pressurize world powers to intervene in the search and rescue of the school girls; the local protest in Nigeria which is led among others by Mrs. Oby Ezekwesiri, a former minister of Education in Nigeria is directed to the President Goodluck Jonathan led Nigerian Government.
In a well reported government response to the protesters, the Nigerian government had asked them to re-direct their protests to the islamic terror group.
Already Nigerian social media commentators are accusing Mrs. Oby Ezekwesiri to have been paid by the political opponents of President Goodluck Jonathan to hijack the #Bring Back Our Girls protest for anti-Goodluck Jonathan campaigns.
A frequent social media commentator, Kingsley Ibeabuchi posted this on his facebook timeline:

“The ‪#‎Bringbackourgirls‬ protests is beginning to take political shape. Is Oby Ezekwesili not aware of the presence of foreign military aids;that’s already present in Chibok, searching for the girls? Is she dumb to the fact that, we have terror in our hands and we require unified effort, and well taught-out strategy to ensure safe rescue?
Obviously,She seem to be acting-out a script. Very soon, she will regret this. She that dines with the devil with tea-spoon will soon have her hands consumed.
One of the protesters at the yesterdays rally, asked that Mr. President should substantiate on the reality of the abduction of Chibok Girls? And my question is; is Mr. President a member of Boko Haram,is there no Governor in that State, or are there no records to show,or don’t these girls have parents?
I want to still ask this fellow;why should she join this protest, if She is not sure, any girl was abducted. Or, is it that the actual abductees, had been released? Does it mean that, maybe, every other story around these chibok saga are mere fallacy, doctored to achieve a rubbishing-political propaganda?

My happiness is that some foreign presence are involved in the search, and sooner or later the truth will float. All these Political destitutes will hide their heads in shame!”

#Bring Back Our Girls Goes Occultic As Traditional Hunters Get Ready For Sambisa Forest.

Posted on

Image Rita Egwu – Over 500 traditional hunters armed with home made guns, poisoned spears and amulets are eager to use their black magic powers (Juju) to help find the abducted girls. Aged between 18 to 80, these traditional hunters have been waiting for the past two weeks in Bornu State to get an official approval from the Nigerian Military.
With cow horn trumpets and echoing eerie war cries that can send shivers down the spin. These men were selected by their peers for their spiritual powers twirl around and stab themselves with no apparent harm. They also have herbs and other substances wrapped in leather pouches. with cowrie shells, animal teeth and leather bracelets they say they are impenetrable to bullets. They claim they are not saying they are better than the soldiers but they are laying claim to knowing the bush better. They say they have reached the end of their patience and if the government is not ready to use them then they will disband. A social commentator said: “I believe these men have what it takes to bring back our girls. This is Africa so we have an African way of solving issues that the west and their technology can not solve. I remember the days of Bakassi boys. They used charms to reduce crime in the east of Nigeria”.
